WHAT TO EXPECT AT A MEETING

Break & Formal Toast
PART II
Table Topics
As you arrive, you will be greeted by a dedicated greeter in the lobby, who will welcome you and introduce you during the meeting. Before the meeting begins, feel free to walk around and socialize with members and other guests. Don’t be shy! We are interested in learning who you are and your interest in being here.
When the meeting starts, you can expect a very structured and punctual meeting as dictated by the agenda for the day. Each meeting is run by the Toastmaster of the evening, with the help of Sergeant at Arms and many volunteers. Each member who has a role will stand up and explain the purpose of their role. Following the introductions, a humorist will take the stage and lighten the mood by telling a humorous story. After the humorist, there will be four prepared speeches, followed by four evaluations.
At this point, there will be a short intermission where refreshments are served, and you will get a second chance to network.
After the break, the Toastmaster will raise a toast, celebrating the theme of the evening. Nothing will prepare you for the next part, literally. The table topics portion of the meeting will entertain and awe you as members give impromptu speeches on the spot. As the evening comes to an end, there will be an after-meeting gathering at a restaurant close by to socialize and network. You are, of course, welcome to attend.

Due to the business nature of the club, VETC is proud to offer networking opportunities before and after the meetings. Doors Open at 6:30pm and you can network and socialize until 6:50pm. The meeting starts at 7:00pm (sharp). The Seargent at Arms will begin calling for order shortly before that. After the meeting some members go out for dinner and drinks, and anyone is welcome to join in.
Each new guest is welcomed as a visitor for up to 3 meetings, with no obligation, charge or reqirements.
We hope to see you there!
